Long Shot - A Picture from a ways out that has no focus point and shows terrain and buildings but other then that very little detail.
Full Shot - Complete view of the characters in the scene. It also can just be a full picture of someone as opposed to cutting them at the waist or just showing their face.
Mid Shot - Used to show movement and show interactions between people and show details of buildings. When taking Mid Shots of people it is from the waist up.
Close up - A Close up is a picture that is used to focus or highlight a part of the scene. It is also used to show the importance of the object that is being shot.
Extreme Close up - These are used to add impact to the scene, to add suspense or to highlight an important fact.
